A method is provided for creating a zonal isolation between the exterior and interior of an uncased section of an underground well system which is located adjacent to a well section in which a well casing is present. The method comprises inserting an expandable tubular through the existing well casing into an uncased section, such as a lateral branch, of the underground well system and subsequently expanding the expandable tubular such that said one end is pressed towards the wall of the uncased section of the well system and the outer surface of said other end is pressed against the inner surface of the well casing thereby creating an interference fit capable of achieving a shear bond and a hydraulic seal between said surrounding surfaces.
L'invention concerne un procédé prévu pour créer une isolation locale entre l'extérieur et l'intérieur d'une section non tubée d'un système de puits souterrain, qui est située de façon adjacente à une section de puits présentant un tubage. Le procédé comporte les étapes consistant à insérer un dispositif tubulaire expansible par le tubage existant à l'intérieur d'une section non tubée, telle une branche latérale, du système de puits souterrain; et procéder ultérieurement à l'expansion du dispositif tubulaire expansible, de sorte que ladite extrémité est poussée en direction de la paroi de la section non tubée du système de puits, et que la surface extérieure de ladite autre extrémité est poussée contre la surface intérieure du tubage, ce qui permet de produire un ajustement serré pouvant conférer une adhérence par cisaillement et constituer un joint hydraulique entre lesdites surfaces avoisinantes.
