The invention concerns a data medium (18) whereon are recorded data readable in a CD-ROM player comprising a support (10) for receiving CD-ROM discs with a diameter of 12 cm and a recessed site (14) for discs of 8 cm. Said data medium has the format of a credit card and comprises positioning or centring means for the player to be able to read in the same way as a CD-ROM disc. The positioning and centring means consist of two projecting portions (22, 24) such as stripes or a single-piece arc-shaped part (30) designed to be urged in contact with the inner circular rim of said hollow site for the discs with a diameter of 8 cm.
