ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed herein is an improved circuit for detecting a half-cycle voltage crest of an alternating voltage waveform which includes circuitry for protecting the detecting circuit from current surges associated with the initial random application of the alternating voltage wave- form thereto. In separate embodiments of the improvement, the pro- tecting circuitry includes the use of a diode and a comparator.
