ABSTRACT Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a filter of electrically charged electret fiber material which has good filtering characteristics and is resistant to mechanical vibrations and loads. A foil of the material is drawn, charged and fibrillated to obtain the fiber material. The foil is wound in uncrimped condition into a filter package and is subsequently crimped. The filter may also be heat treated and subjected to a needle treatment.
