A crimping apparatus (100) is provided for use with a crimping machine (500). The crimping apparatus (100) comprises a support structure (110) including a first portion (120) and a second portion (130). The second portion (130) is configured to engage the first portion (120) to define an axial passage (108) into an interior area (103) of the crimping apparatus (100). The second portion (130) is configured to be moved completely out of engagement with the first portion (120) to selectively define an alternative passage (109) into the interior area (103) of the crimping apparatus (100).
