A method for dividing a field into zones with similar crop attributes and developing a mission plan for steering the harvester (10) to selectively harvest crops based on one or more of the attributes. The attributes include protein level, starch level, oil level, sugar content, moisture level, digestible nutrient level, or any other crop characteristic of interest. The method can be applied to selectively harvest and/or segregate according to attribute any crop, including grains such as wheat, corn, or beans, fruits such as grapes, and forage crops. Directed crop sampling provides absolute value and variance information for segregated batches of harvested crop.

L'invention porte sur un procédé consistant à diviser un champ en zones de culture présentant des caractéristiques identiques, et à établir un plan de guidage permettant de diriger une moissonneuse (10) pour qu'elle moissonne sélectivement une ou des zones en se basant sur leurs caractéristiques. Lesdites caractéristiques sont par exemple: la teneur en protéines, la teneur en amidon, la teneur en huile, la teneur en sucre, la teneur en eau, la teneur en nutriments digestes, ou toute autre caractéristique d'intérêt. Le procédé permet de moissonner et/ou isoler sélectivement toute zone de culture de blé, de maïs, de haricots, de fruits tels que le raisin, ou de fourrage. L'échantillonnage dirigé des cultures fournit des informations de valeur absolue et de variance pour des lots de récoltes sélectionnés et isolés.
