ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A crop baling machine of the kind for producing wound bales has a hollow cylindrical winding compartment having a bottom gap in the compartment cylindrical wall through which the crop is fed by a pick-up device. Conveying rollers then convey the crop to an endless slat conveyor a radially inner run of which is guided at its side edges to sweep round the inner, part cylindrical wall of the compartment. me outer run of the conveyor is guided round the outside of this wall. A rear compartment portion is hinged to open upwardly to release the bale. The construction is relatively simple and robust and requires less power than conventional machines because uniform radial compression of the bale is achieved. Also, dust and particles of crop cannot easily escape from the baling compartment.
