ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cross coil type indicator having a pair of cross coils arranged in quadrature, a magnet rotor having a pointer at its rotary shaft and rotatably provided within the coils by resultant magnetic field generated by the cross coils by flowing through the coils pulse currents having duty ratios responsive to a detected variable, and a stopper pin for restricting the movement of the pointer in which detection means is provided for detecting a condition if actual rotational angle of the pointer falls within a predetermined range of angle where the pointer has possibility of contacting with the stopper pin and for producing an output signal in accordance with the result of the detection, and either current control means or compensation means is also provided, for reducing either these amplitudes the duty ratios of or pulse currents generated in duty pulse generating means and to be applied to the cross coils, when the rotational angle of the pointer falls within the predetermined range of angle, thereby preventing the generation of noise due to vibration between the pointer and the stopper pin. Digital data corresponding to angle, its sin .theta. and/or cos .theta. have preliminarily been stored in a ROM for performing simple calculation or processing of the duty ratios of the pulse currents.
