ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cross-linkable composition of a partially cross-linked polymer and an organic cross-linking agent is disclosed. The polymer is a copolymer of ethylene and one or more higher alpha-olefins of 3-10 carbon atoms that has a density of less than 0.955 g/cm3 and which has been subjected to a cross-linking process to an extent such that the partially cross-linked polymer so obtained has less than 0.1% by weight of gel. In a preferred embodiment the copolymer is a linear low density polyethylene, especially a copolymer of ethylene and a higher alpha-olefin having 4-10 carbon atoms. The composition may be used in a variety of end-uses, especially in the wire coating industry.
