A method for making a contact lens comprising a core material and a coating thereon, the method comprising the steps of : (a) providing the core material; (b) applying one or more layers of a crosslinkable polycationic material, wherein the polycationic material is a reaction product of : (i) an epoxide of formula (I) wherein X equals bromo, chloro, iodo, or cyano, and R1, R2, R3, R4, independently of one another, are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, linear or branched C1C6-alkyl, and linear or branched C1C6-alkyl which is substituted with halogen, and (ii) a polymer having repeating units comprising one or more secondary or tertiary amine group(s); (c) applying one or more layers of a polyanionic material; and (d) cross-linking the layers of polyelectrolytes formed by steps (b) and (c). The contact lenses obtainable by the method of the invention have desirable characteristics regarding adherence to the core material, durability, hydrophilicity, and wettability.
L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'une lentille de contact comprenant un matériau d'âme sur lequel se trouve un revêtement. Le procédé comporte les étapes consistant à : (a) prendre le matériau d'âme ; (b) appliquer une ou plusieurs couches d'un matériau polycationique réticulable, le matériau polycationique étant un produit de réaction de : (i) un époxyde de formule (I) dans lequel X représente bromo, chloro, iodo, ou cyano, et R1, R2, R3, R4 sont choisis, indépendamment les uns des autres, dans le groupe constitué par hydrogène, alkyle en C1C6 linéaire ou ramifié et alkyle en C1C6 linéaire ou ramifié substitué par halogène et (ii) un polymère ayant des unités répétitives incluant un ou plusieurs groupes amine secondaires ou tertiaires ; (c) appliquer une ou plusieurs couches d'un matériau polyanionique ; et (d) réticuler les couches de polyélectrolytes formées par les étapes (b) et (c). Les lentilles de contact que l'on peut obtenir par le procédé de l'invention ont des caractéristiques souhaitables en ce qui concerne l'adhérence au matériau d'âme, la durabilité, le caractère hydrophile et la mouillabilité.
