A B S T R A C T The invention relates to unsaturated compounds which are useful as cross-linking agents in the cross- linking of organic polymers by means of irradiation. The compounds in question are imides of the formula Image wherein R represents an unsaturated group, e.g. an allyl group, and M represents an organic group containing an unsaturated amide group, carboxylic acid ester group or imide group. The compounds are of particular value for use with polymers which are melt-processed at high temperatures, especially fluorocarbon polymers, because they are not degraded during melt-processing.
