Method for production of a thermostable crosslinked halogen-containing polymer. Epoxygroups are added by way of a monomer as for example glycidylmethacrylate. The crosslinking of the polymer is carried out through an organic silane which can be hydrolyzed. By this method the crosslinking can be separated from the processing of the polymer as it is catal- yzed by moisture after the processing is carried out. The crosslinking reaction is carried out very fast. Good thermo- stability is gained even if the halogen-containing monomer is vinyl chloride.
