Disclosed is a crosslinkable hotmelt adhesive composition for the coating and/or lamination of sheet-like structures, where a crosslinking component is protected by a polyolefin matrix and is not crosslinked until the composition is melted. The crosslinking component may be a polyisocyanate or epoxide and a main reactive component of the adhesive composition may be an amine-terminated copolyamide or OH-terminated copolyester. Since the crosslinking component is protected by the polyolefin metrix, it does not react with water even when the adhesive composition is used as an aqueous paste, until it is melted.
