ABSTRACT A CRT employs a quadrupolar-focusing color-selection structure comprising two or more apertured masking plates. Each plate has therein an array of substantially rectangu- lar apertures which are positioned relative to one another to produce electrostatic quadrupolar-focusing lenses when operating voltages are applied thereto. The color-selection structure may, by its geometry, provide at the same time electrostatic dipolar deflecting fields when operating voltages are applied. (Figures 1 and 2)
