20377-355 ABSTRACT Excavated overburden material is tipped from the loading bucket of a vehicle into an input hopper 1 from which it is moved by an intake conveyor belt 3 to a grid 4 that is suspend- ed so as to be able to swing about a shaft 5. The material falls through the grid onto the crusher roller 6. The smaller fragments of the excavated overburden material fall through the grid 4 and a lower hopper 7 onto a conveyor belt 8. The larger fragments of the excavated overburden material that do not pass through the grid 4 are reduced by a breaker roller 6 that is adjacent to the grid, and then fall through the hopper 7 onto the delivery con- veyor belt 8.
