A system and method to connect a cryocooler (refrigerator) to a superconducting magnet or cooled object allows for replacement without the need to break the cryostat vacuum or the need to warm up the superconducting magnet or other cooled object. A pneumatic or other type of actuator establishes a thermo- mechanical coupling. The mechanical closing forces are directed perpendicular (cross- axially) to the cryocooler axis and are not applied to the thin wall cryocooler body or to the thin cryostat walls or to the cooled object or to its shield. It is also possible that some of the compressive force be transferred to the cryocooler body. In that case, the extensions are designed so that the forces transferred to the cryocooler thermal stages do not exceed allowable stresses in the cryocooler stage.
L'invention porte sur un système et sur un procédé pour relier un cryorefroidisseur (réfrigérateur) à un aimant supraconducteur ou un objet refroidi, qui permettent le remplacement sans la nécessité de casser le vide de cryostat ni la nécessité de réchauffer l'aimant supraconducteur ou autre objet refroidi. Un actionneur pneumatique, ou d'un autre type, établit un couplage thermo-mécanique. Les forces de fermeture mécaniques sont dirigées perpendiculairement (transversalement-axialement) à l'axe du cryorefroidisseur et ne sont pas appliquées au corps de cryorefroidisseur à parois minces ni aux parois de cryostat minces ni à l'objet refroidi ni à son blindage. Il est également possible qu'une partie de la force de compression soit transférée au corps de cryorefroidisseur. Dans ce cas, les prolongements sont conçus de telle sorte que les forces transférées aux étages thermiques du cryorefroidisseur ne dépassent pas les contraintes admissibles dans l'étage du cryorefroidisseur.
