The present invention relates to a method and system for protecting electronic data and communications. This is done by producing a set of encryption keys, generating an expanded set of encryption keys (multidimensional key operators) which define a set of multidimensional key operator spaces. An expanded set of encryption keys is generated by manipulating the set of encryption keys using a set of equations where order of operations must be maintained. Data can then be encrypted using the expanded set of encryption keys. Other advantageous aspects of the invention are also described such as message blocking chaining, entropy, the uncertainty law, authentication, using shared secrets to control selection of a key operator for encryption, long message encryption and decryption, and identification-based key agreement protocol.
