ABSTRACT A crystal oscillator device arranged so that the crystal is directly mounted so as to vibrate in its thickness mode in a recess of an insulating substrate. A through-hole is provided at the bottom of the recess and a pair of conductive lead terminals are connected to electrodes which are located on the major surfaces of the crystal oscillator element.
