ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An FM receiver and transmitter apparatus is disclosed- which is of the superheterodyne type and is capable of scanning and receiving a plurality of channels on a plur- ality of frequency bands as well as transmitting on a plurality of channels. The receiver incorporates a phase-locked-loop frequency synthesizing means for gen- erating beating signals for use in tuning specific channels and also incorporates processing means for controlling the frequency synthesizing means and the overall receiver operation. The processing means also controls the fre- quency synthesizing means for transmitting on a plurality of channels. The receiver includes a keyboard and a display for viewing information during the operation of the receiver. A modification of the apparatus has the processing means controlling a voltage controlled oscillator for generating the various frequencies for the channels.
