ABSTRACT Crystalline 4,1',6'-trichloro-4,1',6'-trideoxy-galacto- sucrose exists as the orthorhombic anhydrous form and as the pentahydrate, both of which are more stable then amorphous TGS. Crystals are obtained from seeded aqueous solutions, above 38°C for the anhydrate; below 38°C for the pentahydrate.
