Disclosed are a crystalline form of anthracycline antibiotic of the formula (I) (see formula I) having specific characteristic 2.theta. values as measured by the X-ray diffraction method, and a process for producing the crystalline form. This process comprises the step of crystallization involving the combined use of a specific poor solvent for the antibiotic and a good solvent therefor. This crystalline form has excellent chemical and physical properties.

L'invention concerne une anthracycline cristalline antibiotique présentant une valeur 2 theta caractéristique spécifiée par diffractométrie à rayons X sur poudre, dont les propriétés chimiques et physiques sont excellentes. L'invention concerne également un procédé de production de ce cristal comprenant une étape de cristallisation à partir d'un solvant pauvre spécifié et d'un bon solvant combinés.
