A carbon nanofiber having substantially graphite sheets that are substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the nanofiber and a produce for producing same. The carbon nanofibers are produced by contacting an iron, or an iron:copper bimetallic, or an iron:nickel bimetallic bulk catalyst with a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen at temperatures from about 625 ~C to about 725 ~C for an effective amount of time.

L'invention concerne une nanofibre en carbone comportant des feuilles constituées sensiblement de graphite, sensiblement parallèles à l'axe longitudinal de la nanofibre, et un procédé de production correspondant. Ces nanofibres en carbone sont produites par mise en contact d'un catalyseur en masse à base de fer, ou bimétallique à base de fer: cuivre, ou à base de fer: nickel, avec un mélange de monoxyde de carbone et d'hydrogène à des températures comprises environ entre 625 ·C et 725 ·C pendant une durée effective.
