A B S T R A C T NOVEL CRYSTALLINE SILICATES Silicates having in the as-synthesized form the formula (M2/nO)p:(TMA2O)q:SiO2:(A12O3)r:(H2O)s wherein M represents an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal of valency n and TMA represents a tetramethylammonium cation and wherein O ? p < 0.3; 0.01 < q < 0.4; 0 ? r < 0.01 and 0 ? s < 4. They can be prepared from a forming solution comprising a mixture having the molar composition a(M2/nO):bTMA2O:SiO2:cA12O3:dH2O wherein 0 ? a < 0.5; 0.05 < b < 10; 0 ? c < 0.01 and 5 < d < 100 wherein the OH-/SiO2 molar ratio is at least 0.3, which mixture is kept at elevated temperature for a time sufficient to produce crystalline material followed by separating off the crystalline material produced.
