CRYSTALLINE ZEOLITE, SYNTHESIS AND USE THEREOF ABSTRACT A novel synthetic crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite is described having a rigid three-dimensional framework made up of SiO4 and Al04 tetrahedra cross- linked by the sharing of oxygen atoms. It has a compo- sition in the anhydrous state, expressed in terms of mole ratios of oxides, as follows: Image : Al2O3 :(40-250) SiO2 wherein M represents metallic and/or non-metallic cations, having valence n, which balance the negative charge on the alumina-containing tetrahedra. This new zeolite is designated ZSM-23 and is used in catalytic conversion of organic compounds.
