ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Carbon monoxide is selectively removed from a gas stream by a process which comprises contacting the gas stream with an absorbent solution containing the reaction product of a Cu(I) compound and a halogenated acetylacetone of the formula: Image where X is a halogen, R1 is CX3, linear or branched C1 to C8 alkyl, C4 to C6 heterocycle containing O, S or N or C6 to C10 aryl, R2 is hydrogen or C1 to C6 alkyl, or R1 and R2 are joined together to form a C6 ring.
