ABSTRACT The present invention is concerned with solid carriers for the attachment of cells which are coated with a polypeptide (preferably of between 5 and 25 amino acids)containing the amino acid sequence Arg-Gly-Asp. The attachment of cells to these carriers is fast and the attached cells reach confluency very rapidly. A further advantage is that detachment of the celis from the carriers can be affected by simply lowering the pH to a value below 7Ø
