Abstract of the Disclosure A method and apparatus for detecting micro-organisms in a sample for example bacteria in blood, wherein the sample is introduced into a container of liquid nutrient medium and the container is then interconnected to another container of solid nutrient medium. The surface of the solid nutrient medium is then brought into contact with the liquid nutrient medium and, after incubation, the surface of the solid liquid medium is investigated for colonies.
