Abstract of the Disclosure In a method of culturing a plant with a dwarf habit, the plant to be grown is placed in a plant pot of a porous material as for example fired clay. The plant pot is placed within an outer jacket vessel so as preferably to leave a space between the two, such space being filled with a nutrient solution. The- ?re are slits running from the interior of the pot radially outwards and/or axially downwards in the form of blind channels within the thickness of the pot wall. The roots of the plant grow into the channels and become trapped therein so that they do not develop any further but only put out fine root hairs. The retardation of the growth of the roots of the plant causes the plant to exhibit a permanently dwarfed habit.
