ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A vulcanizable composition comprising a chloroprene rubber and at least one amino selected from the group consisting of arginine, lysine, hydroxylysine, ornithine, cystine, asparagine, glutamine and citrulline, and further optionally, at least one metal oxide selected from the group consisting of magnesium oxide and zinc oxide. This invention provides also a vulcanizable composition comprising a chloroprene rubber, at least one amino acid selected from the group consisting of tyrosine, threonine, tryptophan, proline and hydro- xyproline, and at least one metal oxide selected from the group consisting of magnesium oxide and zinc oxide.
