"CURING RUBBER SKIM STOCK COMPOSITIONS HAVING IMPROVED METAL ADHESION AND METAL ADHESION RETENTION" ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is a composition for the improvement of adhesion and adhesion retention between conventional rubber conveyor belts, hoses and the like, and metallic reinforcement cords such as brassed steel. The invention composition is prepared by mixing an inorganic salt of cobalt or nickel and depolymerized scrap rubber (DSR) with the rubber stock prior to contacting the metallic reinforcement. Tests conducted with brass-plated and zinc-plated steel cords showed improved metal adhesion and metal adhesion retention with use of the rubber skim stock of this invention when compared to existing formulations.
