CURETTE SHARPING HONE AND METHOD OF MAKING ABSTRACT A dental curette hone of a ceramic made from particulate aluminum oxide abrasive and having a curved alongate edge and a flat elongate surface. The curved elongate edge has a radius of approximately 1/32 to about 3/32 inch. The ceramic block is being made by forming a mixture of particulate aluminum oxide having an irregular particle shape and a selected particle size with magnesium oxide, then shaping each block by extrusion or molding. The block is then heated to form a fused ceramic block. The fule ceramic block is tumbled to remove irregularities from the elongate edge and flat surface after which the block is polished to form a polished surface on exposed particles of aluminum oxide. The polished surfaces of the particles intersect irregular sides of such particles thus providing cutting edges on such particles for sharpening the curette.
