A curling broom of the type comprising an elastomeric body attached to the underside of the broom head for engaging the ice surface with a fabric layer over the elastomeric body is modified by the addition of transverse grooves across the width of the broom head thus forming additional edges on the broom head which engage the ice surface and forming receptacles for foreign material such as hairs and particles.
