The invention is a slider and sliding shoe for use by a participant in the sport of curling and a process for producing the shoe. The sliding shoe is comprised of a lower surface having a shoe recess portion and a slider, affixed to the lower surface, having a discontinuity comprising a lower recessed portion and an upper projecting portion compatible with the shoe recess portion such that when the shoe is worn on an ice surface by the participant, the lower recessed portion does not contact the ice surface. Further, the invention is a kit for converting a shoe, having a sole, into the sliding shoe. The kit is comprised of the lower surface for attaching to the sole of the shoe and the slider for affixing to the lower surface.
