A cover assembly for a Lithium-ion battery container to improve the durability of the battery. A high pressure injection molded polymer is combined with flanges disposed on the current collecting posts of the battery to provide an improved seal for the battery cover, especially at the interface of the cover and the current collecting posts. The injection molded polymer is fused to the flanges, current collecting posts and container cover to result in a diffusion path of increased length for gases and/or liquids which are known to enter or escape from battery containers. Additional polymer layers can be applied to the assembly to further improve the seal.

L'invention porte sur un ensemble couvercle pour un contenant de batterie lithium-ion pour améliorer la durabilité de la batterie. Un polymère moulé par injection haute pression est combiné à des brides disposées sur les bandes de collecte de courant de la batterie pour fournir un joint d'étanchéité amélioré pour le couvercle de batterie, spécialement au niveau de l'interface du couvercle et des bandes de collecte du courant. Le polymère moulé par injection est fusionné aux brides, aux bandes de collecte de courant et au couvercle de contenant pour conduire à un trajet de diffusion de longueur accrue pour des gaz et/ou des liquides qui sont connus comme entrant ou s'échappant des contenants de batterie.
