CURRENT COLLECTOR ASSEMBLY Abstract of the Disclosure A current collector assembly for conducting electric current between rotating and stationary members. A 2-pole assembly includes a first pair of axially spaced apart collector rings, and a second pair of axially spaced apart collector rings positioned between the first pair of rings. The rings are mounted on the rotating member so that one pair of rings is held against rotation and the other pair of rings rotate therewith. A plurality of circumferentially spaced apart contact members are positioned between adjacent first and second collector rings each of which have a surface in sliding contact with the face of one of the adjacent rings. A plurality of circumferentially spaced apart springs are positioned between the second pair of collector rings for biasing the rings in opposite axial directions so that the con- tacting surface of each contact member is axially loaded. A 12-pole assembly may be constructed by mounting additional rings and contacts on the rotating member.
