A current controlled ferroresonant battery charger apparatus including a ferroresonant transformer, a rectifying means, a silicon controlled rectifier circuit and a control means. The apparatus provides a high power factor throughout a charge cycle while supplying a constant user selected current level during the finish portion of the cycle. The control means includes a microprocessor which is responsive to the level of current being input into the battery and operates the silicon controlled rectifier circuit responsive to a predetermined battery current level. The control means selects the operation of the rectifying means and the controlled rectifier circuit in accordance with the level of current input into the battery.
