Abstract of the Disclosure A battery charger employs an integrator and current switch in combination with a control circuit. The control circuit receives a synchronizing signal at the start of each charging cycle as determined by a cyclical supply or pulse generator as well as information about the state of the integrator which is compared with the predetermined average current. The aforementioned information determines the required control signals for the integrator and current switch so as to maintain the value of the charging current substantially constant throughout the charging time. The charger also includes a current sensor for sensing the current flow through the battery being charged and which supplies the integrator with the value of sensed current.
