A current pickup device wherein a supporting structure (104), carried in articulated manner by an electric vehicle (80), supports an elongated central permanent magnet (147), and a pair of current pickup members (132a, 132b) spaced with respect to each other on opposite sides of the central magnet (147). The current pickup device may be used in conjunction with a power line wherein a number of insulated conducting elements (34) are arranged in the traveling direction (8) of the electric vehicle (80), and are supplied successively as the electric vehicle travels along the line. The permanent magnet (147) interacts with ferromagnetic reference elements (170a, 170b) extending along the power line and in a predetermined position with respect to the conducting elements (34), to position the supporting structure (104) in a self-centered position in which the field lines generated by the magnet (147) at least partly enter the ferromagnetic reference elements (170a, 170b) along a minimum path, and in which the current pickup members (132a, 132b) mate respectively with at least one conducting element (34) and a continuous ground line extending parallel to the conducting elements (34).
Ce dispositif de prélèvement de courant est caractérisé en ce qu'une structure de support (104), portée de manière articulée par un véhicule électrique (80), soutient un aimant permanent, central et de forme allongée (147), ainsi qu'une paire d'éléments de prélèvement de courant (132a, 132b), espacés l'un par rapport à l'autre et situés de chaque côté de l'aimant central (147). On peut utiliser ce dispositif de prélèvement de courant conjointement avec une ligne de transport d'énergie dans laquelle un certain nombre d'éléments conducteurs isolés (34) sont disposés dans le sens de déplacement (S) du véhicule électrique (80) et sont alimentés en énergie les uns après les autres, au fur et à mesure que le véhicule électrique se déplace le long de la ligne. L'aimant permanent (147) interagit avec des éléments ferromagnétiques de référence (170a, 170b) s'étendant le long de la ligne d'énergie et placés dans une position déterminée par rapport aux éléments conducteurs (34), afin de mettre la structure de support (104) dans une position autocentrée dans laquelle les lignes de champ produites par l'aimant (147) pénètrent au moins partiellement dans les éléments ferromagnétiques de référence (170a, 170b), le long d'un trajet minimal, les éléments de prélèvement (132a, 132b) du courant s'accouplant respectivement avec au moins un élément conducteur (34); par ailleurs, une ligne de terre continue s'étend parallèlement à ces éléments conducteurs (34).
