ABSTRACT A device for opening and closing curtains and the like comprises first and second flexible lines adapted for opening and closing a curtain, respectively, when the appropriate line is pulled or taken in, an electric drive for selectively taking in the lines, first and second switches adjacent the lines and operable to deactivate the drive and respective switch operators provided on the lines. Activation of the drive causes movement of one of the lines to open or close the curtains, the movement continuing until one of the switch operators acts on the switch to deactivate the drive. The respective switch operators and switches are relatively located to deactivate the drive when the curtain reaches a predetermined open or closed position.
