ABSTRACT A faster method of generating a set of approximating outlines in the form of parabolic curves or straight lines from the original computer generated graphics which may be in the form of cubic splines, conics, circular arcs, etc. A two-step process is used. First, the number of approximating parabolas that will be required to the desired level of accuracy is determined, using a non-recursive mathematical equation. Second, The actual parabolas are generated using a simple stepper algorithm.
