An improved cushioned carpet fabric is provided. The cushioned carpet comprises a primary carpet (112) having a plurality of pile-forming yarns (120, 134) projecting outwardly from one side. A layer of reinforcement material (158) is bonded to the side opposite the pile-forming yarns. The reinforcement layer (158) is adjacent to, and embedded in, a cushion layer (178) of a polymer such as a polyurethane. There is preferably no additional adhesive between the cushion layer (178) and the layer of reinforcement material (158) since the primary carpet fabric is mated in-situ to the polyurethane-forming composition without preheating the polyurethane-forming composition. An apparatus and process for forming the cushioned carpet fabric of the present invention are also provided.
La présente invention concerne une amélioration des textiles de tapis. Le tapis matelassé se compose d'un tapis primaire (112) comportant une pluralité de bouclettes dressées (120, 134) dépassant extérieurement sur une face, une couche en matériau de consolidation (158) étant collée sur la face opposée aux bouclettes dressées. La couche en matériau de consolidation (158) est en contact et incluse dans une couche de matelassage (178) constituée d'un polymère tel qu'un polyuréthane. De préférence, il n'y a pas d'adjonction de colle entre la couche de matelassage (178) et la couche en matériau de consolidation étant donné que le textile du tapis primaire est maté in situ à la composition formant le polyuréthane sans préchauffage de ladite composition formant le polyuréthane. Le brevet concerne également un dispositif et un procédé de fabrication du textile de tapis matelassé selon la présente invention.
