An improved customizable prefabricated truss assembly for floor and ceiling supports having upper and lower elongated fibrous chord members, a central web system supporting the chord members and fibrous end support members located between the chord members adjacent their ends and adhesively bonded to said chord members by an improved polyurethane elastomeric adhesive. The polyurethane elastomeric adhesive is applied to the opposed support faces of the chord members or the end support member end faces preferably in the form of a thin elongated bead having a width less than the width of the surface to which it is applied. In the preferred embodiment, the end support members comprise a plurality of rectangular wood blocks which are adhesively bonded together and to the chord members. The improved adhesive comprises an isocyanate-terminated compound having at least two reactive isocyanate groups and includes from about 3 % to 8 % by weight fumed silica, and a hydroxyl-terminated compound having at least two reactive hydroxyl groups and including from about 3% to 8% by weight fumed silica and from about 10% to 50% by weight filler. Once the adhesive is allowed to cure, the prefabricated truss assembly may be cut to custom lengths to span the supports for the truss members for placement in a floor or ceiling assembly. The trimable end portions of the truss assembly do not include any nails or metal fasteners which would otherwise pose a danger to a worker and potentially damage a cutting tool.
