A cutting device is provided for cutting a geometrically-shaped opening through a flat-surfaced material e.g., a normally-unvented ostomy collection pouch, which provides access to the interior thereof. The cutting device includes a retainer which is circularly-shaped and which is provided with a centrally-disposed aperture. It also includes a cooperating member having an inside diameter coinciding with an internal diameter of an edge flange of a cooperating disc for cooperating with the external diameter of the retainer with a portion of the material therearound and a centrally-disposed aperture. An elongated holding member is provided which is rotatably-disposed within that centrally-disposed aperture. The holding member has a cutting device which is disposed on one distal end of the cutting means. The cutting device is preferably provided with a protruding tab or burr which is generally disposed in line with the circumference of that centrally-disposed aperture. A rotation member is provided for rotating the cutting device. When the cutting device is rotated, the cutting device cuts a geometrically-shaped opening through the material, substantially the size of the centrally-disposed aperture.
