The cutting arrangement for a band-shaped material to be cut, especially photographic copy material, includes a stationary cutting edge (5) and a pressure member (12) moveably guided along the cutting edge as well as drive means (7), (10), (11) for moving the pressure member along the cutting edge. The pressure member (12) on its path along the cutting edge (5) forces the material to be cut (P) which rests on the cutting edge against the cutting edge in a pressure region which is short compared to the length of the cutting edge (5) and thereby severs the material to be cut by compression. The required force is thereby limited to the movement of the pressure member (12) along the cutting edge (5) and is significantly smaller than in conventional cutting arrangements of this type.
