ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cutting instrument is disclosed which is adapted to be heated to a predetermined temperature and includes a cutting instrument body, a metallic blade body having a shank portion mounted within the cutting instrument body and a cutting edge portion extending from the cutting instru- ment body. A heater formed of a thin conductive strip is attached to the cutting edge portion of the blade body in a thermally conductive and electrically insulative manner. The heater extends through the cutting instrument body to project therefrom in a direction opposite to that from which the blade body extends so as to provide for electrical contact to an external power source.
