The invention relates to a cutting insert which can be used to clamp into a disk-shaped or strip-shaped tool body (30, 36). Said cutting insert comprises a front surface (10, 22) to which a convex front surface (11) is joined to at least one side. The arc-shaped edges (12) of the front surface extend at an angular dimension of > 90~ and = 180~ and are embodied as cutting edges (12). According to the invention, either a linear edge which is essentially vertical in relation to the front surface or cutting edge (14) which runs counter to the vertical by a maximum 4~ or a concave-shaped edge (24) are joined to the arc-shaped edge(s).
L'invention concerne une plaquette de coupe destinée à être montée dans un corps d'outil (30, 36) en forme de disque ou de baguette. Cette plaquette de coupe présente une face frontale (10, 22) adjacente, sur au moins un côté, à une face convexe (11) dont les arêtes (12) en arc de cercle s'étendent sous la forme d'arête(s) de coupe (12) sur une plage angulaire supérieure à 90· et inférieure ou égale à 180·. Selon l'invention, soit une arête concave (24) soit une arête de coupe linéaire (14), sensiblement verticale par rapport à la face frontale ou inclinée au maximum de 4 · par rapport à une verticale est adjacente à la ou aux arêtes en arc de cercle.
