The present invention relates to a cutting insert (10) for a milling cutter. The cutting insert (10) includes a main body (12) having a top face (20) and at least one elevated corner nose area (30) formed on the top face (20). Extending around the elevated corner nose area (30) and along an adjacent side face (24) of the cutting insert (10) is a cutting edge (32). The elevated corner nose area (30) includes an angled chamfer (50) that intersects with the cutting edge (32) and a flat surface (52) disposed inwardly of the angled chamfer (50). A pair of tapered lands (54, 56) extends from the flat surface (52) toward a respective side face (24) of the cuttting insert (10) where each of the tapered lands (54, 56;) intersects with dle cutting edge (32).

L'invention concerne une pièce de coupe rapportée (10), destinée à une fraise, qui comporte un corps principal (12) doté d'une face supérieure (20) et d'au moins une zone (30) angulaire saillante et surélevée disposée sur cette face (20). Chaque listel de lèvre de coupe (54, 56) effilé part de la surface plane (52) vers une face (24) latérale respective de la pièce de coupe rapportée (10) où il recoupe le bord de coupe (32).
