The present invention is directed to a cutting insert (10) with a rake face (20), a seating surface (25) and a plurality of flank faces (30a-30d) extending between the rake face and the seating surface. The intersection of the rake face and the plurality of flank faces define a plurality of cutting edges (35a-35d). The rake face (20) of the insert (10) has a plurality of corner regions (40a-40d) formed at the intersection of side cutting edges (35a 35d) to define corner cutting edges (45a-45d). The corner cutting edge (45a-45d) in at least one corner region (40a-40d) has a recessed profile (50a) when viewed from the side of the insert. The recessed profile (50a) has a concave shape and extends inwardly from the cutting edge (45a). At the cutting edge, the recess has a conical shape to define a conical portion (55a) and further inward from the cutting edge the recess may have a cylindrical shape to define a cylindrical portion (60a).
La présente invention concerne un insert de découpe (10) présentant une face de dépouille (20), une surface d'appui (25) et une pluralité de faces de flanc (30a-30d) s'étendant entre la face de dépouille et la surface d'appui. L'intersection de la face de dépouille et de la pluralité de faces de flanc définit une pluralité de bords de découpe (35a-35d). La face de dépouille (20) de l'insert (10) possède une pluralité de régions de coin (40a-40d) formées au niveau de l'intersection des bords de découpe latéraux (35a-35d) pour définir des bords de découpe de coin (45a-45d). Le bord de découpe de coin (45a-45d) situé dans au moins une région de coin (40a-40d) possède un profil en retrait (50a) vu du côté de l'insert. Le profil en retrait (50a) possède une forme concave et s'étend vers l'intérieur à partir du bord de découpe (45a). Au niveau du bord de découpe, le retrait présente une forme conique pour définir une partie conique (55a) et vers l'intérieur à partir du bord de découpe le retrait peut également présenter une forme cylindrique pour définir une partie cylindrique (60a).
