The invention relates to a cutting insert, in particular an indexable cutting insert (1) for machining predominantly metal materials, comprising a first surface (5) that acts as a contact surface for a chuck tool and a depression in the first surface (5) in the cutting corner region and along the cutting edges (2, 4), said depression acting as a swarf surface. According to the invention, a second surface (27) that likewise acts as a contact surface is situated between the cutting edges (2, 4) and the first swarf surface borders (10) of the swarf surface that face the cutting edges (2, 4) and between the cutting corner (6) and the second swarf surface border (30) of the swarf surface, said border facing the cutting corner (6). To reinforce and stabilise the cutting edge (2, 4), the first swarf surface border (10) and/or the second swarf surface border (30) has or have one or more interruptions in the form of ribs (12, 16, 20) that extend in a substantially perpendicular direction to the cutting edge (2, 4) and/or the cutting corner (6) into the swarf surface, said ribs (12, 16, 20) lying on the same plane as the second surface (27).
La présente invention concerne une plaquette de coupe, en particulier une plaquette de coupe amovible (1) destinée à l'enlèvement de copeaux sur des matériaux principalement métalliques présentant une première surface (5) qui sert de surface d'appui à un outil de serrage et une cavité qualifiée de surface à copeaux pratiquée dans la première surface (5) dans la zone du coin de coupe et le long des arêtes de coupe (2, 4). Selon l'invention, entre les arêtes de coupe (2, 4) et les premiers bords (10) de la surface à copeaux, orientés vers les arêtes de coupe (2, 4), et entre le coin de coupe (6) et le deuxième bord (30) de la surface à copeaux, orienté vers le coin de coupe (6), se trouve une deuxième surface (27) qui sert également de surface d'appui. Selon l'invention, pour renforcer et stabiliser l'arête de coupe (2, 4), le premier bord (10) et/ou le deuxième bord (30) de la surface à copeaux est/sont interrompu(s) au moins une fois par des tiges (12, 16, 20) qui s'étendent sensiblement perpendiculairement à l'arête de coupe (2, 4) et/ou au coin de coupe (6), vers l'intérieur de la surface à copeaux, les tiges (12, 16, 20) se trouvant dans un plan avec la deuxième surface (27).
