The cutting tool, in particular nail clippers (1), comprise two elongated members (2, 3) hinged around an axis (A), wherein each member (2, 3) is provided with an actuating arm (6, 9) and a cutting edge (7, 10); the cutting edges (7, 10) of the two elongated members (2, 3) face each other so as to reciprocally co-operate for cutting when they are moved towards one another by the action of approach on the actuating arms (6, 9). The tool (1) also comprises elastic means (11) for biasing the elongated members (2, 3) towards a diverging condition in which the two actuating arms (6, 9) and the two cutting edges (7, 10) are spaced from one another, and retaining means (16, 21) for holding the elongated members (2, 3) in a closed condition, in contrast with the elastic means (11). According with the present invention, the retaining means comprises a threaded pin (16), which is adjustably inserted in screwing engagement in a threaded hole (20) formed through a first (6) of the two elongated members and is provided with a manually actuable head (17) and with an end (19) opposed the head (17), in front contact engagement into a retaining seat (21) formed in the second (9) of the two elongated members.
